Rental Boat Safety Team
We’re in the prime of boating season! With warm weather across the country and holidays that call for a day off to boat with family or friends, many people flock to the water! Whether you're a livery or a renter, we want to give you one friendly reminder: wear a life jacket.
U.S. Coast Guard statistics show that significantly more than half of those who drowned in fatal boating accidents were not wearing a life jacket. A life jacket can save your life.
Before buying a life jacket keep in mind, there are many different styles of life jackets that you can choose from designed for specific uses. Certain styles may suit you and your activities better than others. There are versions designed for activities such as tubing, wakeboarding, or skiing. There are others designed for fishing! If you’re 16 or older and dislike the standard bulky life jacket, we suggest the inflatable life jacket! Inflatable life jackets are available with both manual-only inflation and automatic inflation. Manual inflatable life jackets are great for activities where you will most likely be submerged in the water such as swimming or stand up paddleboarding and are not meant to be worn during water sports. Simply pull the cord tab and your life jacket will inflate. Automatic inflatable life jackets should only be worn by those who are confident swimmers. Once you enter the water the life jacket can take up to 4-6 seconds to inflate. Choosing a life jacket not only impacts the comfort of your boating activity but your safety, as well.
Keeping you safe is our main goal, and we cannot stress the importance of wearing your life jacket! If you want more information, you can visit our website www.rentalboatsafety.com! Happy boating!
